Grampians

Be transported to the Dreamtime and become one in the world of Gariwerd.

An ancient and mysterious land so named by the traditional owners- the Jardwadjali people - stretches out before you in the playgrounds of native wildlife and drama of landscapes carved in a distant time…..

The Grampians invites a complete escape – a time out to connect to nature and self.

Born out of a time when the continents were still forming and the coastline lapped the region, the jagged sandstone escarpments of the Grampians offer some of the most rewarding hiking experiences in Australia.

The perfect package……

The Grampians region is ideally placed to include in a wonderfully contrasting circuit exploration from Melbourne that includes the Great Ocean Road or as part of a through travel expedition to Adelaide and South Australia.

There are a plethora of walks of varying length and degrees of exertion – all with stunning views - and as the region is home to the most number of examples of Aboriginal rock art in Victoria, it exudes an otherworldly ambience that invites a spiritual connection to nature and place that is all consuming. The silence is deafening……

Approaching from the south offers the chance to visit the beautiful township of Dunkeld – home to unique exquisite dining set against the awe-inspiring backdrop of Mt. Sturgeon. Tracing the edge of the National Park as you head north offers the most spectacular aspect of the Grampians before arriving in Halls Gap.

As the name suggests, nestled in between two ranges, Halls Gap is the regions hub and an ideal location to explore nearby waterfalls and local wildlife as they engage in their late afternoon rituals before you relax into the evening.

An early rise the following day will reward richly with a full day to explore the trails and indigenous history that abound before returning to Melbourne exhausted but utterly reinvented.
